Appointed by main contractor Durkan Ltd for the London Borough of Ealing, Soundcraft has supplied energy efficient SPW600 windows and doors to sheltered housing residents.

Refurbishment of the Garden Court three-storey building in Chiswick required Soundcraft’s manufacturing and installation expertise to deliver thermally enhanced aluminium systems throughout individual homes across the facility.

The scope of work specified a removal of all existing timber windows, including bay windows, for replacement with SPW600 double-glazed aluminium windows, fabricated in like-for-like colour finishes and installed with trickle ventilation in the window sash.

Working alongside supply chain partners Senior Architectural Systems, the Soundcraft team additionally upgraded entrance and communal doors at Garden Court. “Many of the doors to homes were originally stable-type doors, we were therefore required to replace in accordance with precise planning conditions,” said Soundcraft’s Commercial Director Michael Bishop. “This included the manufacture of SPW600 entrance doors together with a bespoke door system that would adhere to planning consent and provide the residents with an improvement on their existing doors, combining thermal efficiency with low maintenance requirements.”

Tasked with providing crucial window restrictors following the successful installation project, Soundcraft was also able to provide a face fixed restrictor solution to satisfy client requirements and help ensure the safety of residents in their homes.
