Several members of the Soundcraft team have taken part in one of their most important projects to date after lending a hand as part of the BBC’s DIY SOS Big Build programme to help the Grenfell community in West London.

The two-part TV special followed the progress of the huge band of tradespeople as they worked tirelessly to create a brand new gym that will become the new home of the Dale Youth Boxing Club.  The club’s original premises, which were located on the first floor of the Grenfell Tower, were destroyed in the tragic fire on 14th June 2017. The DIY SOS teams have also constructed the new North Kensington community centre, a new purpose built facility that will provide a flexible and welcoming space for the residents and local groups in the area. A key feature of the new building is the attractive bank of windows that were installed by Soundcraft.

Working closely with supply chain partner Senior Architectural Systems, we are very proud to have been able to make a positive contribution to this ambitious project by offering our installation expertise to help install the windows, doors and curtain walling for both buildings.

Rob Thomson, managing director of Soundcraft, comments: “When we were first contacted by the BBC to help out with this amazing venture, we didn’t hesitate to get on board. There has been a lot to do in very little time but being based so close to where the tragedy happened has only made everyone work that much harder, as we are all very aware of how important these new facilities are to the local community.

It’s been an unforgettable and humbling experience to have been part of this project and I know that I speak for the rest of the Soundcraft team in wishing the Grenfell community the very best for the future.”
