Appointed by main contractor Durkan Ltd for client Wandsworth Council, Soundcraft has once again provided professional excellence for a significant London property.

Precision manufacturing of a high-performance Hybrid composite timber aluminium range, designed to improve thermal efficiency of the building envelope, was managed at Soundcraft’s factory facility in Kent.

Castlemaine Xline & HybridWorking with supply chain partner Senior Architectural Systems, Soundcraft delivered key products, including SF52 curtain walling and Hybrid series 1 tilt and turn windows, together with installations for winter gardens featuring glass-to-glass corner joints to the curtain wall, utilising Guardian Glass 70/35 for natural light transmission with energy saving solar protection.

Refurbishment of individual properties to upgrade the 21-storey South London block saw an impressive installation programme by Soundcraft’s skilled teams, operating from high-rise scaffolding wrapped around the tower.

During months of intensive work, Soundcraft products and installation successfully passed rigorous tests for weather performance and efficient water penetration resistance, approved by the Centre for Window and Cladding Technology, signed off by Building Control and carried out by VINCI Technology Centre.

Liaison with residents was also paramount during the removal and replacement of the tower’s existing windows and curtain walling, and Soundcraft generated good community relationships to ensure the smooth running of this important project in order to exceed all expectations.

Composite windows, doors and curtain walling systems are increasingly specified for multi-storey buildings.
