Wandsworth Borough Council have awarded Soundcraft the contract for the replacement of over 1800 front entrance doors (FEDs) at several sites across south west London.

Many of the doors will be fire rated (FD 30- tested at Chiltern International Fire) and are required to be Secured by Design.

This is Phase 9 of Wandsworth’s door renewal programme, which has seen over 10,000 doors replaced. Soundcraft have successfully carried out previous phases 4, 5 and 7.

Every phase has used a standard specification which has proved the test of time. This is based on the Mul-T-Lock multi point lock, housed in a FSC® solid timber cored flush door, and hung in powder coated steel frame armour. The benefits of this specification are an extremely reliable lock, coupled with the retention of existing frames to avoid the damage that can result from removing old frames, plus high security and fire resistance.

The contract is due for completion in March 2014.

Soundcraft specialises in providing doors for the social housing market that include, in addition to FEDs, communal entry security doors for use in door entry and access control systems, and fire doors and glazed timber screens (FD30 & FD60) for use in the corridors and stair wells of multi storey buildings.
