A wide range of Hybrid composite curtain walling, windows and doors were chosen for the Music school rehearsal rooms and performing arts teaching centre at Frensham Heights School, in Surrey.

The ‘Hybrid’ composite system was specified by IID architects as both windows and curtain walling was required. Gareth Box from IID comments “We chose the timber and aluminum composite system as we required a mixture of windows and curtain walling. The system provides the warmth of timber with the slim lines and aesthetic benefits of Hybrid”

The curtain walling, which has engineered timber internally and powder coated aluminum externally, has been tested to CWCT specification Sequence B, achieving the following results:

Air Permeability: 600Pa
Water Tightness: 600Pa
Wind Resistance: 2400Pa

In addition, the curtain walling provided u values below 1.4.

The composite windows were from the Hybrid Series 2 casement range, which offers alu-clad windows that match Velfac’s. Hybrid Series 2 windows have been tested in accordance with BS6375 Part 1:2004 for weathertightness and BS7950 for Security.

In addition, insulated aluminum doors from the Hybrid SPW500, thermally framed range, also tested to BS6375, and PAS23/24, were fitted.
