St Georges Road, London

Project Type

Complete glazing package for striking mixed-use London Development. The mixed-use development at St George’s Road in Southwark features a striking bronze façade, 17 metres high curtain walling and a combination of windows, balcony doors, frameless sash windows, and shop fronts. The St George’s Road development required the mixed use application to have a complementary and consistent building envelope. To meet this requirement, Hybrid composite windows, doors and curtain walling were chosen for the development as they provide an integrated system that can deliver a complete solution.

Work Done

The 17 metre curtain walling that runs the full height of the building was combined with matching windows and doors for a complete glazing package.

For the apartment balconies a ‘lift and slide’ composite door was chosen. This high specification door with larger panes of glass allows more light whilst the door opening function doesn’t impact on usable space, all of which is important for inner-city living.

The frameless sash windows were chosen with automatic opening vents. This allows smoke control in the stair-well at the rear of the building as part of the development’s fire package.

To keep all the external doors and windows in one package, Soundcraft also supplied a Secured By Design front entrance door as the main residential access to the development.

Using the architectural plan elevation, Soundcraft designed and created the detailing required for the project, including weathering details to certain aspects. On such a complex and unique project, this detailing will ensure long term performance and water-tightness.
